Sounds like rubbish.
If you don't need the refunded cash just leave the insurance running and wait for the renewal letter.

Dont see why you cant leave the insurance running, not illegal is it? If anyone ask's you "forgot" to cancel it when you sold the car.

i think i will ring again tmoz and record the call. get the same responce as before and also ask for it in writing, if i just left it and the next guy who buys the car insures with quinn which i think he is cus i mentioned it to him, they could make up some shit saying its not insured as its not my car bla bla bla.... i want my ncb cus ive kept my corsa and waiting months just so i can have my ncb...

I've heard that story about not being able to insure it if you're not the owner but I have done it on at least 2 occasions and had no problems.

You can get away with leaving it running. When I used to work for Mitsubishi a bloke come in asking about some Shogun Sport alloys, 18s worth about £2k, got an invoice off parts paid a deposit. Found out sometime later, he'd setup a policy on his neighbours Shogun Sport, then phoned up claiming his alloys had been stolen, insurance told him to get an invoice for them and send it off. He got a cheque back for the price of the wheels minus the excess, then cancelled the policy a few days later.
So he got £2k minus the excess and deposit for the wheels which he never picked up. Rather naughty but he got insured on someone elses car without any problems and even made a claim
