Some extra strong cleaning fluid, (spray it through a pressure washer)

Then just elbow grease and normal wheel cleaner,

Wash with some sort of wheel cleaner. Then clay them to get rid of any pitting.

If there is tar on them you could use something called Autosmart Tardis, you spary it on, leave for a couple of minutes to melt the tar then you just wipe it off. (Dont get it on your drive though or it'll eat the tarmac )

On a budget, id suggest autoglym wheel cleaner. I think all cheaper cleaners are acid based, which isnt good. USe plently of water, clean wheels. If you have clay, clay them to remove tar spots etc, polish and then wax wheels.

This makes them far easier to clean in the future as the tar etc wont be able to bond to the surface!

What do you mean pitting? Clay removed tar spots and any other shite that bonded.

It looks like stuff has got under the seal on the wheels? They are rough to touch'

I've not tried cleaning them yet. I'll get some Hot Rims on the way home from work then stand and watch Colin while he tries to clean them

Yes to add in about the tar remover.

I always thought that pitting is the brake dust thats really stuck on, like you get in the edges of your alloys that normal washing doesn't remove?

edit - had a quick search and cant find what pitting of alloys is? no pics anyway
