This is only from experience but everyone I know who rebuilt there XE had problems with it, the ones that where just serviced and had a waterpump and belt change just went on and on

I really wouldn't bother rebuilding, just buy a decent XE and run it, if it goes pop then rebuild or just buy another one

An extra 45bhp. . .think about it. . .that's like having a 1.2 8v engine slapped next to your X16XE

Not sure why people rebuild them unless they are down on power or not mechanically sound.

Don't do it for the sake of it, do it if you need to

After owning one, I'd rebuild it for the sake of it.

I'm a paranoid fucker though

How miles did your c20xe have on it when you bought it? When you say good service just the normal spark plugs / filters /oil etc?

900 for a rebuild! may aswell go ask vauxhall how much for a c20xe...reconditioned...you can swap a duff c20ce for a gud en...takes abit of time though i think...2 litre is gonna be fun and do think ill be getting one tbh...the corsa is going to cost me like £400 to tax and insure next year...so thinking it will be taken for a c20xe conversion once ive lowered it...considering 2 litre brakes at moment after replacing worns ones with new standards....shud have listened to fro lol was on the metal

Mine nearly has 140k on the engine too. Didn't bother splitting it or anything. New Water pump + Timing belt kit and it's good to go. Heading towards 12k hard miles now

If it breaks i'll fit another one...

I had one like that, thing is though, a rebuild wouldn't cure them problems unless you bought all new sensors etc
