Been at my current employer for 14 month's now and its getting beyond a joke.

last year i was agent of the year thats out of abotu 100 + people and its for consistantly over performing for the whole year, meeting target by 150% or more infact. The whole of my team when the manager is off or here come to me asking me this that and the other.

But yet someone who started the same time as me hardly ever hits there stats gets to look after the team, do the coaching role etc everything ive made clear id like to do and work towards doing and then i just feel like all the hard work is pointless as someone who technically isnt doing the job at hand as not even meeting targets gets put forward for it and to do it all

I want to know how i can make my anger known cause know one even seems to care either.

Been there my friend.

My advice, keep everything you do on record. Open an email folder, put all good work and praise you do.

Keep a log if people are late. Screw em, your not there to improve others positions, your there to look out for you.

Don't moan, don't whinge, it'll make you look worse. Take it on the chin, and if it gets THAT bad arrange a formal meeting with you superior (the one you get on with, and if none directly above you, go above them).

Express your issues constructivly, not just a moan. Give examples on how you think it can be improved upon for the company.
Failing that, www.jobserve.com is your friend (well for IT anyway)

If it gets that bad, look to move on. All the time your in employment, you have time to look for a new job.

I've recently taken a huge pay cut, more hours, no OT pay, much smaller company, to aid my long term future and not my immediate one. Not sure if its the right decision yet, i'll let you know in a months time

I wish but the person who made the decision who does all that stuff is in an office 150 miles away.

Which is even more annoying How the hell can she know who would be good for the job when she only comes down once a month, my own manager backs me but has no say in it. Time to move on me thinks, just dont know where to go to as i dont want another customer service job.

Probably as your such a good target achiever they want to keep you in that role and give the coaching role to someone who isnt'as good as you, to keep you over achieving.

That's what i'd do tbh.

Why take someone out of their role when they are getting 150%???

Not business sense.

i'd phone her up, tell them how dis heartened you are, state about your achievements last year etc, it won't do any harm to be fair.

Might send an email.

Hi,

I was just wandering in Mike's (manager) abcencse why i'm never choosen to supervise the team, even after showing im capable of doing the role and doing everything correctly within my current role i still find my self not being put forward to do something id like to progress towards. I'm really looking for some genuine feedback or a reason as to why you might feel im not suitable for the role.

Thanks Rob

Can people improve that for me as im no good at this crap

introduce yourself, say you have worked there x amount, achieving so and so, say how your effort levels and results couldnt be higher and you want to progress in the company while developing yourself, then mention the resent situation and how you feel that it should have been you in that role and that you have found it disheartening. then ask for feedback on the matter or if it would be possible to discuss in person maybe?

That's a bit direct imo I wouldn't get straight to the point like that.

Have you ever met this person? Could you start off the email in a polite but maybe bit more famililar way?!

Anyway, I would say something along the lines of:

Hi [name],

Hope all is well [insert friendly line here],

I have a few concerns over my development that I would like to bring to your attention that you may be able help me resolve.

As you are hopefully aware, I have been acheiving [insert what you reckon you've acheived here - use the word consistent alot] and therefore was wondering if there was anything else I could be doing to be considered for some of the other team responsibilities in 'mikes' abscence?

I feel it would benefit both my personal development and the team for me to be exposed to the coaching responsibilities and general management of the team when Mike isn't here.

**Not sure about this bit, depends how much you like your manager** I have approached Mike about this on a couple of ocassions etc etc

I would appreciate if you coul give it some thought.

Thanks,

Just do the bare min, dont offer help to others or do extra. Its probably personal why they dont pick you for said role.

I was in the same position 4 years back.
Sat back and watched the fella crack under pressure..he soon left the company.

In the meantime, I realised the job he took probably wasnt best for me anyway and I have had alot better/rewarding job roles since then.

Final draft ... is a bit arsey but oh well.. anything i should change ?

Hope all is well.

I have a few concerns over my development that I would like to bring to your attention that you may be able help me resolve.

As you are hopefully aware, I’ve been here 14 months now and I have been achieving 150% + usually of my target consistently since I’ve been here at CPP. Therefore I was wondering if there was anything else I could be doing to be considered for some of the other team responsibilities in Mikes absence as I still don’t seem to be being put into consideration for these.

I feel it would benefit both my personal development and the team for me to be exposed to the coaching responsibilities and general management of the team when Mike isn't here.

I have spoke about this before and had some valid points I feel but unfortunately feel like I am sinking back down in to the same hole.

I have approached Mike about this on a couple of occasions but I understand its yourself that makes the decision, I just feel a lot of my qualities aren’t really seen by yourself, things like taking escalation calls, these always get passed to me by the other person who does this role or any agent comes to me in Mikes absence to deal with these. Same with my system knowledge, I’m always asked by nearly every agent in Mike’s absence how to sort system errors and problems with the in house software.

I was also under the impression from speaking to manager’s down here about there role’s and tasks a huge percentage of managerial responsibilities is having sound system knowledge, being able to help in any situation escalations etc, and to do task’s and job’s at hand quickly and professionally, I feel when given the chance I have always met that criteria so I’m unsure what more I can do.

I would appreciate if you could give it some thought and any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Robert Baker

Note it, resend the mail to the same person with the above attached.

Explain that this is the kind of situation you are unhappy about, that a meeting was arranged, and now you have been ignored again and that you feel let down by the company and your immediate manager.

I would re-send to the person you sent that letter to, and also cc her direct boss in as well thus putting her managerial expertease into question.

DOn't give up yet. But remember, don't moan, if you moan your seen as a hinderence. Put it constructivly and go from there. If they still fail to help, then it really is time to move on.
