Top mount suspension bearings are common; as are most sensors under the bonnet. Lambna being quite a common one to give up; also if its been lowered rear beams wear!

Why would you get a rallye instead of a gti ? Less spec and slower...

I had one for 14 months bought on 57k sold on 69k, never put a foot wrong at all... Thing to look out for

Play in gearstick, usually needs new linkage rods or 13mm nut on linkage tightening.
check all dash lights illuminate, alot of people remove airbag light as its a common fault.
check for knocks when changing direction on the steering, single knock is just springs moving in cup thats ok, more than one could be something more serious.

Id personally go for the 72k one, by 72k everything that goes wrong normally has ive found.

Any car can be problematic if it hasnt been looked after

both my 106gtis were mostly fine, one had a gearbox problem.

My experiences of them both as far as reliability goes were better then both my experiences with my corsas

MA Gearboxes do my head in. Problem after problem. Every rallye ive had has been nothing but hassle. My Quiksilver was on 92k though and was fine in the time I owned it. Just my luck I suppose.
