Yes.
Not sure about Edinburgh, but I drive past one every morning which is set at 40mph, or if you run a red.

some do some don't. round here they're big yellow boxes though, not much smaller than an ordinary speed camera. there are tolerances though remember

You'd know if there was a camera. There will be a sign before hand and a slimmer speed camera just behind the set of lights.

YEs, lots do, but lots don't.
They only go off if you break the red light.
I saw some guy stop the other day in his big merc, about 2m in front of the line (wrong side). The light flashed twice. I chuckled to myself.
DON'T JUMP RED LIGHTS, IT AINT WORTH IT.........
My dad, 2 years later, still LOTS of troubles, and will do for th rest of his life, 20+ breaks, just because someone jumped a red light...

By law they have to have one Daimo.
Thats nasty about your dad.
I've done what the big merc has done, stopped a bit infront of the line, mix of being in the exact wrong place at the wrong time, not brill recations and shite brakes.
Ended up bout 1.5m over the line, flash flash, but no ticket. I rung TV Police and they said not to worry, the picture will show me stopped, I did the right thing etc.

I can think of 2 red light cameras that definitely don't have signs telling you about them.

Bummer (good for you), I had good visions of the city boy sitting on his mobile phone being shafted for £60. Mind you, I guess he can't complain as the image will show him on the phone
John, not sure if the camera ones need them as they arn't speed cameras. They jsut catch those who jump red lights and run the risk of causing a serious accident (the amount of people who speed up to beat the light as other cars move off is terrible). I suffer with it all the time on the bike as im quick to leave on the green light, only to see some tw4t come hammering past through the lights as mine are already green.
If they go my way, i make sure to inform them of my frustration when I pull up next to them
Im sure its worse in citys though than it is in rural areas.

If he's on the phone and the picture has him on the phone, a £60 fine with 3 or even 6 points will be on his way
The amount of people who jump red lights is unreal, I even check before I go now!
