Just sold a phone to a guy on ebay. He emailed me before the end of the auction asking my permission to bid (as he only had 2 feedback, both of which were positive) so I thought yes it would be OK.

He said he had just created a paypal account and would pay straight away.

It's been 30 minutes and he's not paid but the worrying thing is that I checked his address and it doesn't even exist according to royal mail. It's a Leeds address on Leeds road but the post code is BD77EH (which doesn't exist)

What do you guys think? And is my address visible to him until I send him it?

Yes, BD7 is a Bradford code but there's no such postcode as BD77EH on Leeds Road.

I think it's a scam to be honest. I'm just worried that he has my address and thinks he's coming to collect it.

It looks a bit worrying:

one of his feedback points is from someone with a 0 feedback so he could have both accounts in his name and set the item up so he wins the auction himself.

The bidding history looks a bit suspect on this too, nearly all the accounts are low feedback so could all be his that he has set up

He was left feedback on the nintendo wii within 2 hours of the auction fnishing, not all that unusual but a lot of sellers wait to see if the buyer is happy before leaving feedback. This seller is also in leeds with low feedback.

So Id be a bit weary, dont post it without insurance and have it signed for and get proof of the address through paypal so If he opens a dispute you have some evidence. Either that of give another guy a second chance offer

Exactly what I was worried about Luke.

He asked me in an email if he could collect the item and I said it would be fine providing he paid promptly.

Will he now know my address or will I have to tell him with me being the seller?

Im not sure if he could have your address or not really, someone else might be able to help there.

Change your registered address in ebay now if you are worried, he only needs your email if he is going to pay by paypal, just make sure he doesn't send a cheque to the imaginary address!

If he wants to collect it is he paying with cash?

He said he'd make a paypal account (which he has done as I could look up his address details) and pay instantly but no luck as of yet.
