I was actually thinking of my mates 205

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG71AvWRkEc

Watch this vid... filmed from the view point of some guys in a big powered modern mustang supercharged thing...

About half way through the vid they catch a black 205 and he absolutely dicks on them! that was my mates 205! Only a 1.6 Gti! haha - tops out about 110 mph, but watch them struggle to keep up!

Watch from 6:50 in that vid !!!

What planet are you on?
It is quite possibly the most technical curcuit there ever has been,13 miles and at least 73 bends. WTF.

Paul is correct in his statements, the ring is about carrying speed through corner on corner on corner and it only has a few points of all out straight ahead acceleration.

Perhaps Tom thought it was litterally a ring, like a oval track?

The most technical track in the world.

Veyron does handle, but like many hypercars, its a top speed junkie, but it will go round bends faster than any of our "hot hatches".

Im presuming the video linked was the Elise chasing the Veyron. Come on, thats like 1 tonne vs 2 tonnes But Paul is right, a well sorted track car would kill a veyron. This is why i don't understand how many modified car people spend all their money adding throttle bodies, engine tuning, trying to make as much power as possible, when they could use that money to invest in a good suspension kit, a very good brake setup all round (and inside), and run a faster lap with 150bhp instead of a 250bhp, crappy suspension and "2.0 16v or V6 brakes" setup.

I liked 5th Gear last night. Loved the GTR, but it looked a little drifty to me, and as Plato said, i think "from looking at the way it went" it would be far more entertaining to drive on the road over the racetrack. I still think all the top tuners haven't cracked the codes yet either (You can't even change the air filters or exhaust without the ecu shutting down).

LOVED the camper, but as they said, would have to buy and old one, put a porsche engine in it, and fully kit it out (proper sized budget) with my own cooker, sink, fridge/freezer, beds, tv's and ICE etc. I just love the idea of having a sorted one, and just driving round all of europe, stopping off and sleeping, then driving to another place. Would be awesome.

But £40k on that California, pleeeaaaaaassssssseeee. I'd rather pay £30k for the GTR and spend £10k importing the bugger than get one of those

Oh, and that RS6 was awful. HOW bland. At least the old one had character, wider arches etc. That looked like a normal car.

But it makes you think, when will they stop? Who NEEDS a 600bhp estate??? Why would you need one? When will they stop? Will the next 4 door car have over 600bhp and when will they stop making more power?

Speed limit is 70-75mph in different countries....

They should stop making cars for peak power and performance.

They should make them so they are exciting and fun to drive. I want a 0-125mph time of 5 seconds please and less top speed.

One of Tiffs first comments (Something like...) was, "the power is effortless smooth all the way up the revs, no sudden surge in power that forces your heard back.....

BORRRRINNNNGGGGG, if buying a 600bhp car, thats what i WANT to happen

Daimo (VXR) nah the vid I linked wasn't of the elise vs veyron, I've seen that vid tho... It was a vid of the new GTR doing the lap of the nurburgring, but it demonstrated how quick it was going through the bends and how technical the track was!

My parents just bought a fully fitted out camper thing - kitchen etc I nearly fainted when they told me how much they spent on it
