After having being stranded in wales yesterday with a flat tyre in a mates car and then going to work for a night shift, this morning I was booked in for a session on the rolling road.

Its the first time ive ever stood next to a car at full throttle and the sound is awesome

But the man in charge of the dyno only ever runs the car in 4th, The first run he did it really tried to escape so he put another 2 straps on it to hold it back but even with them he aborted every run just as it came on full boost. He said the wheels were spinning (you could smell rubber) and he didnt like the feel of it so i have to try again with some wider wheels on.

So all in all it was a bit of a disappointment really but Im always glad when my car survives a dyno session.

Has anyone else ever had this problem on the dyno? Never thought to ask him but why do you think he wouldn't use 5th or 6th?

find a local dyno centre with a dyno dynamics dyno, they use a tractive tie down system which will pull the car down into the rollers rather than holding it back. I have never had a problem with wheelspin on mine using this system, a friend of mine often runs 1200 ft/lb through his with just 2 tie straps.

I have a massive problem with wheel spin with mine as well. We have started to use tar on the rollers which helps no end. But at the same time we have big 22 inch rollers that have alot more mass than the l8 inch ones or what ever are?

We also tie ours down so that it pulls the car down which most other places cant do when they set into the ground.

Yes we use 4th gear most of the time. Ive had mine at about 180mph which I will never never do again lmfao, was not a nice experience.

it should be more than road pressure on a rolling road due to tyre deformation

If we have a car with alot of power the simple solution is to spray carpet glue down get some heat in the tyres and its fine.

our rolling road is set into the ground and we strap it down from the sides.

That was at john lambs in clowne. He was a bit worried about my tie bars being very close to his rollers as well I think.

Ive got the gearbox to change this week and Im going to put the coilovers back on to lift the ride height and put my 17s back on the front, He said that would make it a lot better.

Its the first time Ive been to this guy, he came highly recommended from a lot of mates. I might go back to my ususal dyno place (john noble in chesterfield), It ran there before with no problems but that was with the 17s.

Dont want to waste another 2-3 weeks on the waiting list for the dyno to have nothing happen really
