Im looking at buying a car which is roughly 7 years old and by my own self admission im not the most 'clued-up' of people when it comes to engines and other important components. Im depending on this car to get me to work and back for a few months while i get my finances in order and i dont want buy a wrong-un lol can anyone point in the right direction of who to use and how much its likely to be?
Thank you guys

Think the AA give you a guarantee thingy too, so if anything is wrong with the car which they should have spotted they will reimburse you.
Not used them, but what I heard

a mate is not going to see an accident repair done to a good standard that the owner failed to tell you about

not if the repair was done to an exceptional standard, you wouldn't notice a different front wing..

If it was just a wing i wouldn't mind tbh, I can spot a spray job from 1000 paces though so i'd take my chances.
And how can an RAC/AA guy spot something I/other random person, can't?

Heard horror stories about the AA warranties though too - mate at work bought a Celica and payed £300 for it and a full check. Few months after having it, the bottom end bearings went, he had to pay to get the engine stripped down himself, and then they didn't pay out because "at some point in it's life the car had been run on very low, or no Oil". How anyone's supposed to know that though i've no idea, and I thought that's why you bought the warrany/insurance anyway!?!
Read the T's & C's if you get one.
End of the day apart from checking the condition of the engine (noises, leaks, checking fluids for contamination, checking colour/condition of spark plugs etc), the RAC/AA checks are probably the same as an MOT.

i used the aa, they were really good, its not the aa tho tbh its a company joined with them iirc, but they done all the main checks etc, they note down everything which isnt standard, the list goes on, but its well worth it!
