My mum is quite poorly at the min and I wanted to do something to cheer her up but I'm quite limited for options as she has stress related phsoriasis from head to toe. For those of you that don't know what it is the only way I can explain it is, she looks like a burn victim at the min! Its not nice at all, initially I was thinking spa day or something like that but she can't have any treatments or anything that may make it worse, she can't walk to well either so can't do anything to strenuous!! Any ideas pleeeaaasee!?

one of the best homeopathy/alternative cures for psoriasis or dermatitis is Saltwater.

I get really bad Contact Dermatitis, any irritant can set it off such as changing soap powders or using a different shampoo - car shampoo is the worst. Even a woolen blanket like you get in hotels sets me off!

Just being in an area with high air salinity, ie by the sea side makes a big difference; at first it stings like a bitch but after 1 hour or so it starts to dull down and my symptoms definately get better. When I'm really bad I have a bath wth loads of "plain" bath salts to try and replace the moisture and natural salts in the skin. Obviously not for too long because you don't want it cracking and gettting sores

thanks LiVe LeE she has never had it before and the doctors couldn't diagnose her for about 6 weeks so they sent her to a skin specialist and she is going to be having ultraviolet treatment but that don't start til 7th feb, she has already got cracked feet and hands and sores. I made her go to the docs to get signed off and so she is off for a month but didn't want to suggest bath salts and things incase it got worse!? Any ideas on what sort of products will help and where I may be able to get some?

Shane- my mum is rubbish with technology! she would rather some crossword puzzles I think going to buy her some magazines and stuff! but thanks for the ideas

The problem is everyone with a skin condition reacts differently; it may be worth a try with a foot spa and mineral salts - that may help to relieve the conditions on her feet - as I said everyone is different and it may not work but at the same time if it makes it even a little bit comfier it'll make the defference.

The worst thing is scratching; it itches like fuck but you just have to resist scratching! I used to have to sleep with white cotton gloves on so that if I scratched I couldn't dig my nails in!

I know i feel really sorry for her, she just gets on with it and puts a brave face on even though I know she's in a lot of pain and she would probablyt still be working if we didn't tell her to get signed off!

Take her up to Dunstable downs. Really nice and a chance to get some air in the lungs.

I like going there on a sunday afternoon to watch the world go by.

The drive is good too

I don't live at home and work til half 7 then home to cook dinner etc and put my little'n to bed won't really be able to do it on a weekend either. Dunstable downs is a good idea, been past there a few times just got to pick a good day though don't think she would appreciate the rain lol Was thinking about a zoo trip or something that the whole family could do but that entails a lot of walking so thought against that idea!

well if she is babysitting for a couple of days why not just stay round there for a night, get a nice takeaway in, just make her feel loved and happy,
