inlet £300
Cams £300
Verniers £170
Remap £250 - £450
Manifold £250
Exhaust £200
Raised Limit With ReMap

also could do

Lightened Flywheel £150
Ported And Polished Head £200

That should be around 150 bhp and is the route i am going

Other ways are the throttle body kits, can see 160 bhp from the cheapest kit i belive, bout £1600

I was trying to get to 150bhp on mine, I had

Lexmaul inlet - £350
Janspeed exhaust manifold - £180
Sportex decat - £60
Chipwizards ECU map with 7200rpm rev limit - £300
Blueflame exhaust - £300
Pipercross Viper - £250
SBD idlers - £90

and I had 130bhp when it broke.

A decent head would have seen 8bhp more and then cams on top of that, plus a new map, and I would have seen 150 if I was lucky, but I think I still would have been short, unless I swapped the Lexmaul for a Mantzel and went to proper management, ARP rod bolts and a rev limit nearer 8000rpm.

If I was doing it now, I'd spend the money on an SBD TP164 throttle body kit (or spec my own which was pretty much the same), that's good for about 160bhp with a standard head) and gives more potential in the future.

150bhp is acheivable without TBs, but it's not worth it IMO, I've been there, I could have had TBs for my £1530

What broke on it?

To be fair tho, a few of those prices can be reduce, de-cat can be self made for about a fiver. And a cheaper exhaust system would also do the job.
The SBD rollers and Viper induction kit are also not needed imo. The rollers yes, at higher revs than 7200rpm.

Out of interest, where did it make peak power in the revs? What was the torque?

Theres a 1600 16v on mig that makes about 150/160bhp, with a mantzel fitted, on proper management.

Head warped, the engine had no water in it as the water hose on the back of the head came off, then when I put water back in it, it didn't run, so I left it empty and it was fine

Just needed a skim and it would have been fine, but I was a fool and bought another car.

Those prices are brand new prices for the bits I had, I didn't pay anywhere near that I got the Viper for £90 nearly new, paid £400 for the ECU with remap, Lexmaul and Lexmaul strutbrace, the Exhaust cost me a set of Sport wheels, so it was only the idlers, decat and manifold I bought new.

The idlers aren't NEEDED, but they're a good idea, Teddy had a standard one collapse at standard revs not long after I got my SBD ones, he was lucky it happened at idle and the engine was finee.

Peak power was 130bhp at 6733rpm
Peak torque was 123lb/ft at 4533rpm

So it definitely needed cams and headwork.

Broster had a nearly identical spec to me, all the bits were the same, but the manifold and decat were different, but along with a Jamsport head, he made 138bhp with the ECU.

Even with cams, 150bhp would have been a struggle with the Lexmaul and a 'standard' ECU IMO.

I think everyone has to go the tuner route at some point, purely because its a good bit of fun, once you've done it and had your fun and got bored of it, you realise you are far better getting a faster standard car.
