Hello people just wondered if anyone had any experiance of Computeach? A friend of mine was speaking to the NE rep and I must admit I was quite surprised with some of his claims. Basically told my mate that if he done all of their courses, which was approx 15hrs/week for 12 months and at a cost of around £2K you would walk into a £30K-£40K/annum job, surely that can't be right?

Naa it's not.
If you were willing to put 15 hours a week in you could also learn the material yourself and not pay 2k.

I can't think of any companies that would pay that much with no industry experience.
Could maybe get £25k if you were really lucky.

I thought it sounded a bit to good to be true. Could any of you guys recommend a good way of entering the IT industry? He seems pretty stuck on this a a new career but needs some pointing in the right direction.

I see those adverts and at them!!!
What exactly are they teaching and which area of IT do they recon your'll earn 30k plus after 12 months.
IT is fairly tough to get into. Take a student who has spent 3-4 years doing a degree in computer science. Firstly, most will struggle to find a job.. never mind one offering £25k with the level of experience that they have.
To be earning anything over 25k you need (in most cases!!)...
1) over 2-3 years work experience
or
2) find a graduate job in a TOP company
or
3) get lucky and BS your way in the interview
oh... I've been a few training courses with my company (re: software development) and they are approx £1500 a pop for a 5 day course so I'm not sure what quailty you will be receiving for 2k over a year
Be careful mate!
Which area of IT do you want to go into?

Robbing scum
I was going to get into I.T. and I spoke to a company about a course, which was a comprehensive course with government funding, and I'd have to put in cash aswell
They ranted on about computeach charging people for skills they can learn online for free

I'd recommend anyone wanting to get into IT not to bother unless you are prepared to put the time/effort into geeking up!

You won't get anywhere in this world unless 1) You work up the ladder or 2) You have the qualifications AND experience.
Qualifications alone won't get you the job they advertise, nor the job/money you'd ideally want.

Ask them to put it in writing and guarantee it, or you get your money back. They'll soon stop talking bollocks .

I don't know anyone who would hire anybody with no real experience.
Anyone can read a book and get qualified, its the mixture of both quals and experience that leads to a decent job.
