I purchased some 'Morettes' off eBay last month under the false impression that they were genuine Morettes.... they weren't. The seller tried to pass them off as real Morettes, hence why I bought them.
I'm currently in the dispute process on Paypal and I have just received a response from them:
In order to continue with the investigation of your complaint, we must
request documentation to support your claim that the item is not authentic.
Please obtain a document from an unbiased, third-party, such as a dealer,
appraiser, or another individual or organization that is qualified in the
area of the item in question (other than yourself), which clearly
identifies the item as not authentic. If possible, the document should
include a serial number and description of the item, and must be on
letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the
individual, business, or organization so that PayPal may contact them if
necessary.
What do you think is best to do? Send Morette an email via their website and tell them the situation? Trouble is I need it on letterheaded paper, and if this isn't faxed off to Paypal within 10 days then my claim will be cancelled.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, really could do with the money back!

Go see demontweeks or a company that sell the lights and get a letter on their letterhead stating genuine Morettes have a logo on or some other description?

Cheers for the suggestion mate, I'm just worried about the time frame I have.... unless I get them to fax me something on letterheaded paper maybe?

I had the same problem with some headphones. I took it to a shop that was an authorised dealer, who confirmed that they were fake and wrote a quick note on headed paper for me, which I sent off to Paypal. Worked and I got my money back.
Will this help?

Could be worth speaking to Morette to find an authorised dealer in your area too.

Hmm, he just calls them morretes, if anybody mentions anything like them on here they are called morretes, he hasn't specified they are genuine or anything
It actually says MORETTE/QUAD you assumed on this occasion I would say, again unless there was behind the scenes communication.

Yeah, there was behind the scenes communication! I was sceptical about them also, so I sent a few messages to the seller. I asked her if they were genuine Morette, or if they were "cheap copies". The reply I got said 'they aren't cheap copies'. In other words, they're copies, but they're not cheap copies... very clever indeed I think... she managed to reply with an answer that made me think they were genuine, yet she didn't actually say for definite that they were genuine!
And me not really knowing what to look for to tell the fakes from the real deal, I went ahead thinking I'd got a bargain. Her feedback was also reassuring... 100% positive, and she's had a fair amount of feedback!
She also states the RRP price as being £500, which would point to them being genuine Morettes, as I saw some other fakes going on there for about £140 at the time.

At the end of the day they were advertised in the auction as Morette which is misleading.
If they were non genuine lights they should be advertised as "Morette style". Auction is clearly deceptive.

Exactly Richie, it's quite clear she's made them out to be real Morette's, even when I questioned her about them.
Might send the bitch a nasty note when/if I send the lights back to her.
Or some shit in an envelope.
Or I'll wipe my smeggy bellend over the lights.
Scamming ho bag!
