For a wee while I've been looking out for a bike trailer for £150-£200, but at that price they all seem to be either falling apart, or weak shitty ones only capable of smaller bikes.

A mate of mine is a well established welder & suggested he make me one. He already has the materials, and can get the whole thing galvanised for a few pints... all he needs are the wheels with the suspension & hubs.

Not wanting to use 2nd hand stuff (and also to allow purchase of several sets so he can make a couple of the same to sell on..), I'm trying to find somewhere that will sell a kit that includes the wheels, suspension & hubs for under £100.

Anyone know of any?

Cheers,
Stu

My mate - Ste W on here - built one in the same way, bits from a bloke on Ebay, proper company, he just makes packages up. Might be worth a u2u to Ste.

Could always get some coilover struts and some spinners from Halfords? ...No? Fair enough...

Try having a butchers in your yellow pages under something like towing and towing accessories/camping accessories/caravan sales etc etc - those are the type of place you need .

Presumably you won't need it to be a braked trailer, but you'd still need to buy the tow hitch, stub axle, wheels and lights, which are probably quite expensive i'd imagine?

I think you can buy it all for about 100 quid Rob. Just supply the framework.

if you want plain stub axles ( non braked and no suspension ) i could get you a pair of stub & hubs for £35ish quid then £60 for a pair of new road legal rims & tyres. Plus £15 for a hitch then just stitch it together and chuck on some mag lights for £20

i have a CR250 and have the same problem and have noticed you can get racks for the tow bar but it does mean lifting bike into rack
they retail around 60 quid and are capable of upto 150kgs depending on vehicle
i am going to buy a simple old wooden trailer and have it stripped for the required parts
