I'd do some research into cars then.
McLaren F1 was doing what the Buggatti was a decade ago. Without 4 turbos, without 10 radiators, without a computer system designed by NASA etc...
Don't get me wrong, its an amazing car, useable, fast, ok-ish round a track, but:
a) the top speed has been beaten by a few cars
b) theres far superiour handling cars out there
c) theres more technologically advanced cars out there.
d) theres better looking cars
e) theres better sounding cars
f) all of which are cheaper than the veyron.
When are you going to get near 200mph, let alone 250mph? Don't forget to spend 10 minutes setting the bugger up for its top speed run.
AS said, it IS an amazing car, but not the best by a LONG way.
The Bugatti will hit 200mph before the F1, and that is with the F1 having a 130mph head start. That car would DESTROY an F1.
It will also DESTROY it in the upmost of comfort.
Name as many cars that will be as comfortable at that speed? ANY?
That car was not built to be the best in every department, it was built to show what they can do. If you believe otherwise, you are retarded.

Tom read the blokes quote. There was 2 questions.
What is more advanced.
What is better sounding. If you read it properly, you question will be answered. And the McLaren F1 was a ROAD car. 65 built for the road, i think 3 special editions, and the rest were race cars. Its all on that link i posted.

Bugatti wont kill an F1 like that at all. Yes it will beat it, but then theres 10 years advancement in technology so i'd HOPE it was much faster than the F1. So yes, if straightline is your thing, great.... For me, anyone can plant their foot so a cars outright top speed is all for pub penis talk.
Ever sat in a Bugatti or McLaren F1 to make that statement valied? I've sat in buckets that are more comfortable that a recliner. Down to the person.
Im retarded, yet you've ignored everything i've said about the car being a great car, just not the best IMO. So read things before trouting off kiddo.
And your talking about 250mph, what car will do nearly these speeds in comfort? Koinesenegg, the Barabus TKR (built on a FRACTION of the Bugatti budget too, and theres more to come from it). Comparing costs of these other 2 supercars and your still getting more mph per pound.
Yes its a good car (as i've stated), but for ME, its not at the top of the list at all. Anyone can go fast in a straightline, its just about power and areodynamics. Its a hypercar.

think that is quoted form the clarkson DVD
The replies on this topic sum this site up nicely IMO
For the car will never be on my wish list as I personally do not like it but however I can appreciate the following
The engineering involved for a car to do 252mph and be in service in 20 years time is some achievement
In todays society of making money, and crippling penalities with regards to pollution and being seen to be green could possibly mean we not see a production car like this again.
Yes tunners etc take a standard car and tweak it to stupid power that would give it a run for its money but they are not everyday cars
Also it may not sound the best but have you heard one driving by. i was in London when one went past and it was unreal
For me its an engineering triumph that will allow everydays cars of the future to become better.
Its not the best by any means but its an engineering triumph to which I take my hat off to VW for having the balls to make such a car

It's not an engineering triumph though, McLaren were 11mph shy of the Bugatti, in 1993, the Bugatti is not as impressive as the McLaren for that reason.
In 1993, 200mph was a big number, now, BMW are building mainstream saloon cars which can do it and selling them to reps.
McLaren built a car which could do 241mph, that impressive, taking 13/14 years to get another 11mph is not.

If it was the first car to crack 200mph, and it did it by 52mph (which is still officially unproven remember, it's only a claimed speed, regardless of the Top Gear test, which wasn't done properly) then it'd be amazing.
300mph would be an engineering triumph.

"Officially" the Bugatti hasn't held the "Fastest Production Car" record. It was held (a standing record to this day) by the McLaren F1 standing for 11 years (don't quote me on the years). Recently taken by the TKR.
I do think the Veyron is a great car for whats acheived, but Whitter45, you say that, but the Brabus SKR has alrady beated the top speed, and has more to come (as said already).
BUT
You could get in a Veyron and drive it to the shops, every single day with ease.
You couldn't do this with a McLaren F1.
But you could do it with a Koinsenegg.... Which is cheaper than a veyron, and ok, it doesn't see 255mph, it will still see 250mph (and still also more to come from reports)...... Visually, for ME, the Koinsenegg is prettier. The lines are better, the wheels suit it etc.
But then if were talking performance terms, what about a Ultima GTR? OK, its not a 200+mph car, but it'll still get from 0-100-0 quicker than a Veyron, for about £80k....
So it IS a good car, but I think as we are proving, there are better cars at absolutly everything. For what it is, a daily usable car, that will do silly speeds, its very veyr clever, but also still done by other cars....
Whats the top speed of a Pagani Zonda CCX as well? (the 1000bhp one?).
Bear in mind also, the McLaren just used a NA 6.0 engine.... And only 1140kg
The Veryon has 4 turbos. (whats the kerb weight?)
The Brabus has 2
The Pagani has 7.2 litres...
Kinda puts into perspective HOW good the McLaren was considering its age now.
Anyone seen the top speed run done in the McLaren F1 at that super speed ring in Germany? Do a search on youtube, good little video, and certainly no slouch at all!!!!!!!

The bugatti veyron is restricted by tyres though, i'm almost 100% sure of this.
The top speed the engine is capable of is somewhere around 270mph
*I suppose that makes no difference if the car can only achieve 252mph, still extremely quick all the same, lol

So let me work this out.
They spent 10 years designing it.
Millions building it, (At a loss)
Gave it more power than they state it has (its morelike 1150bhp).
But
Never got the top speed record
Never got any records
Restricted by its tyres.
How comes the Brabus never suffered any of this?
2000 kilos, feck me Thats more than 2 corsas!!!!
Tom, why would the koinsenegg be any more scarey than a veyron?

They could have tried harder with the wheels
I like it apart from the wheels tbh. Not too keen on some of the colour combo's they've done though.
