I think they should bring back dog licencing. And in order to obtain a licence you should have to pass some kind of intelligence test.

just because you can pass a test doesnt mean you can own a dog.
they should ban all unlisenced breeding, so every dog bread is registered threw the KC and the Sire and Dam made to past certain tests dependant on the breed. i.e. schutzhund BH (nerve and beahavioural) tests for rottis GSD's etc
people think a dog with papers, is a perfect dog becuase it has a pedigree bloodline, papers mean fuck all, a dog can still be vicous and nervous, any off spring will be just as bad.

Test and such things are stupid, hence why we dont have them. Reason....dogs are unpredicatable. They could pass a test wih flying colours one day, then 5yrs down the line decide to go and chew on someones face.
Its owners of the pets you have to look at, and its impossible to force anyone who wants to own a pet to pass a test - christ if they want to do that then they should consider doing it for having a kid first!!

tests arent stupid mate, a dog who shows no signs of nervousness is more likely to be a calm and steady dog all its life than one who is scared of its own shadow, dogs rarely "turn" and if they did, its usualy alot of things thats the owners fault rather than one thing taht triggers the dog

More often than not its something that has happened during the dogs life that makes it nervous or scared of its own shadow. And this can happen after any initial tests have been done.
And as you said yourself, its very very easy for something the owner does to make a dog just turn one day - no amount of tests can determine if this would ever happen.

no, but it makes it more unlikely. look at puppies, some, will be brave, if you run at them get its head down and its arse up and say, come on then. where others will scarper, i'd put money on the shy 1 being the one that has "problems" with obdience, pack leader and most other things

contridected my self where.
yes i knew someone who had two pitbulls friendly as ever.
they where put on the DDA list with three other breeds as they where classed as dangerours dogs. more because of people bringing them up like that.
baza31 if you going to bring dog up properly good but you need to muzzle dog in public, register it to police, tatto it, microchip it, insure it???????????

Wouldn't worry too much about it Claire. There' a whole bunch of wankers on this site who are allowed to stay just to keep the numbers up.
