had abit of an engine fire last nite and basically my wireing loom is fried, phoned my insurance up to make a claim and they told me im only covered for accidents and vandalism not engine faults. so am pissed off now

That's sh1t! Thought you'd be covered under 'fire'. You not just stick a new loom on and tidy the engine bay up? Any pics?

I have a spare C16XE loom and ECU for sale if you decide to repair it. I'm stripping an engine so if you need anything let me know

well its gonna cost me £300 for a new loom which is what it needs as it completly fried, must have earthed out somewhere. insurance is up for re newal this month and tax runs out this month aswell so car will probably be off the road for abit.

it wasnt a bad fire just the loom to the lamber sensor earthed out and fried and the majority of the loom has fried aswell will put some pics of the loom up when i find another loom, keep an eye out in projects

quite often damaged looms can cause damage to the ecu as well.

found the cause, lamber sensor loom had earthed out on chassis

Well you could. Was thinking MBE Ecu, custom loom and some throttle bodies. Drastic. Yeah. But fuck it, the car lives to fight another day. This time make it fight harder! You know it makes sense even if the bank disagrees, and they are gay any way!!!!

I would make absolute certain of this mate.. lambda probes only provide the ecu with a reading between 400 and 800 mV typically. and the heating side of things only occurs during the first few minutes of running although at full battery voltage...
