Corsa VXR from Pistonheads show:

Swansea University's Formula Student car - designed and built from scratch by students including myself, weighing 197 kg and putting out around 45 bhp:

and last but definitely not least - a 1967 VW 1600 Variant with a Porsche 993 3.6 flat 6, Porsche wheels and brakes, carbon bumpers - I absolutely fell in love with this car. Was auctioned off yesterday, but I haven't found out the selling price yet. Was estimated to sell for between £27000 and £32000

Any plans to take the car onto some kind of Student Racing series, or is it more "this is what we can do" type thing?

Yes Daimo, we raced the car last year at Silverstone at the Formula Student competition but unfortunately suffed diff failure, so couldn't complete the endurance race. However, that problem was fixed for FS Germany, where we then competed and finished 16th out of 66th competitors, were 2nd UK car at the competition and won the fuel efficiency award for the 2nd year running.
We are planning on entering for the competition at Silverstone again this summer, which if you are interested is completely free for spectators to visit on Saturday and Sunday (12th-13th July).
If you want a closer look, check out http://www.formulastudent.com
Oh, and yes, it still does 0-60 in approx 4.5 seconds

The endurance event is 'raced' with the majority of competitors on track at the same time. We don't use the full National circuit, but more a narrow and twisty circuit marked out with cones, with specific overtaking zones for faster cars.
The average speed of the event is around 30 mph, with the main emphasis on the engineering side - mechanical grip, braking, accelerating and suspension geometry.
