I thought this would be like a credit card for kebab shops, rather than having to carry about change after kicking out time

and also, would you like to give your liver to someone who has been boozing all there life? or a lung to someone who has smoked knowing full well that it could/would kill them and they chose to keep doing it?

Hell, they could get a liver from a piss head or lungs from a chimney. It works both ways.

why? what you gonna miss?
When my mum died, we put all usable organs up for donation, she ended up saving the life of 3 people. A woman of 2 kids (who were similar ages with me and my brother), a 21 year old male, and i can't remember anything about the last.

no but how about a yound boy or girl who was born with a shit liver and has suffered the last 78 years since birth from it? didnt know you could transplant lungs, but if it went to a copper who had been shot in the lung protecting somebody..

it should be people's choice imo, i respect the opinion of people who wouldn't want to be harvested after their death which is fair enough. however if it was me, i'd have no problem giving my organs away, after all i'm not going to need them again. i'd rather they were put to more use helping someone extend their lives etc.
for example when i was 15/16 a lad in my year at school was killed in a car crash, his parents opted to donate his organs and he ended up affecting 3 or 4 people's lives for the better, in one instance he gave the gift of sight back to somebody. theres something heartwarming about that that makes me feel the way i do.

Should have the choice, but I'm off in a Biffa bin when I die so they can take what they want out of there.

i'm not going to miss anything as i'll be dead but it's just the way i feel and obviously people respect that or they'd make it compulsory to donate organs after death...
donating something when you are alive to a member of your family is a whole different ball game.
