If I'm not wrong, isn't this a problem tho, because the limiter doesn't stop the engine over revving briefly?

If you accelerate and rev too high, you'll hit the limiter and it'll stop you doing damage.

but if you go from say 3rd at 90 to 2nd it'll initially try to spin the engine up to 10,000 odd rpm or whatever and so the load / rate etc will be immense until it reduces the speed back down due to limiter / engine braking etc.

I've selected the wrong gear before, but usually it's obvious as soon as you start releasing the clutch so u just push the clutch back down imediately before the revs even rise much.

depends on how the car is limted i guess
