Not entirely sure if it'll have any adverse effects on the braking tbh. Never heard of it done

Write on them with a marker, it will look equally as shit but as least will be worn off by the pads

surely if he's gonna punch holes in them with the cnc machine whether to write something or what, it may cause weakness in the brake disc material / adverse wearing on the pads - I'd steer well clear!

sheet metal punching machine. You program it up and it punches out the shapes. Can be used for lots of things, but now being replaced by laser cutting more.

According to the Red Dot website (who also make personalised discs):
Personalized Discs for the driver who wants to add that special touch combining style and performance..
Discs are of the same quality as the Group N on which a message of your choice is machined on the face that shows through the wheel and also has six grooves machine on the opposite side, the non visible side.
Group N discs:
The Group N disc is a heat treated disc for applications where slotting or grooving is not allowed. The heat treatment allows the discs to internally de-stress giving it a higher resistance to deformation at higher temperatures than a standard disc.

So basically, if you are using standard discs and having sutff cut into them, I wouldn't advise it.
However, if you are having heat-treated discs (Group N), then it is possible to do it.
I still wouldn't advise it though, don't like it

not really paul you can use a cnc milling machine and with and end mill bit and that would actually machine it not punch it thus not weakening the disc, as im sure normal grooved discs are done this way to
