would i struggle to get between 35-45 mpg from a 2000 astra 1.8 sri? will be doing 30 mile round trip to work every day (mainly b roads) and want something with a bit of poke but still a sensible everyday car. i dont think i do enough miles to warrant the extra money involved in buying another derv. thanks!

to get a similar mileage, spec, condition diesel i will have to spend around £750-1000 more. i have worked out that i would save around £500 in fuel a year if i got a diesel.thats not good economy imo.

Indeed.
I average around 600 mile a week. Don't think that will be changing for some time.
