For whatever reason, have you ever intentionally blown your engine?

I have once in my OLD Nova 1.2 SPi. Or at least i tried

I was driving it to my mates, where we were going to be fitting my SR engine. I came around the bend just before his house and could see his drive. Whilst doing 'a number of miles per hour' i selected 2nd, then sidestepped the clutch.

The revs went off the clock (digi clocks) and the engine died and would not restart.

However, there was no sign of any 'legs out of the bed' or anything else visual to signify a dud engine.

Anyway, we swapped the engines and to cut a long story short, it turned out that revving the car past 29million had sent some sort of surge through the loom and melted it all together. It was completely wierd. Eventually got it all going again after dyas of head scratching...

Proof that 1.2 8v's are really indestructible...

I used to regularly get my old nova 1.2 bouncing valves
would do a indicated 40 in first and nearly 70 in 2nd but it was only a 4 speed merit
never close to blowing it up

Best thing about it was it fired back up again and proceeded to keep going until it was full on mullered, by feeding it bolts an screws. An even then the only reason it stopped running was because the bolts snapped the ends off the spark plugs off. No bent valves or rods out the block, was gutted.

Missed 5th in a mates focus 2.0 zetec, hit third after some semi high revs in 4th, dropped the clutch, revcounter hit 7krpm (top of the counter - it redlined at 6.5!!!), hotfooted the clutch back down, got 4th again and carried on. Its nearing 167k now

I poured a can of Irn Bru into the inlet of an OLD Toyota Camry or something like that. Ran absolutely fine but smelled of candy floss haha.

My mates Nova GSi was knocking real bad so was nursing it home, but soon gave up on that so gave it utter death untill the engine turned inside out and i could feel bits of rod and block hitting the bottom of the car.

The car started, and drove a further 6 miles until it finally gave up. Ive never seen smoke like it. I hurt sooo much from the laughter.

It is piss funny running an engine when a rod has come out the block. Massive hole an whats left of the rod flapping around lol.

59 mins

My mum hadn't been in the car that long when she blew my dad's old engine with coolant in, that ended up with a 50p sized hole in piston 1, and the head melted in various places, although that wasn't intentional

She was at idle in traffic most of the time, although she was doing about 60-70 when it developed a rattle, then started loosing power then when she finally pulled over there was smoke pouring out of both ends

She's never lived it down
