Errr probably wasn't you then Gianfran, it was a blue sport, Irmy lip, skirts etc but it had the standard sport 3 spokes (thought maybe you had put them on for winter or something).

And yes James - Coupe is dead
cam timing chain snapped on Saturday, currently in a dispute with Vauxhall HQ about who's to blame, I say they are for not doing a field remedy (rework) to it when it should of been to prevent it, they say that my car wasn't one of the ones that shouldn't of been done despite the service manager of Marshalls Vauxhall in Ipswich was 99.9% sure mine should of been!
Follow that? Good!

Anyway, so far we've not stripped the engine to see the extent of the damage but we're almost certain to be looking at some valve and piston damage and probably cylinder head, then once you add in a new cam chain and pulleys, the enlarged chain oil spray nozzle (that was the rework item) and various new belts/pulleys/pumps you're talking a LOT of money - and that's without labout charges!

Vauxhall are claiming that mine should of had to of been done (despite everyone else saying 2000-2002 models had to be done, mine is a 2000 model), it went to a Vauxhall garage for it's 5 year service/inspection in Jan 2005 in Basingstoke - this is where it should of been picked up in my opinion but Vauxhall are denying that, we'll see what they say when they get a letter from my solicitor.....

if it was a safety recall that wasnt carried out and it failed then vauxhall should fit the full bill

It wasn't ever a recall - but a rework for the effected models as and when they came into a Vauxhall dealership for any work - but they never done mine for some reason.
