I assume you mean touchpad?

Mouse pad is what goes under a mouse.

What is the native res of the screen?

Can you not just adjust the sizes of everything in Display Properties - Appearance tab?

I had to install drivers to get my touch pad scroll bar to work. Was rather annoying until I got it working.

1920x1200 I think

If I adj the sizes everything goes slightly distorted and nowhere near as sharp as std

Yeah, because the screen res is still the same but the image is stretched to fit it, so you get smoothing as a result.

The only exception would be if you have a res which is exactly half in both directions? That might be too chunky though.

It takes the piss tho cos MSN and IE are just stupidly small, and I literally cant make things out!
