Get some Clove oil / oil of cloves from the chemist/ pharmacy dab the gum with it on a cotton bud until you can see a dentist, crap tastes awful and try not to swallow it, well to much of it anyway. And some codeine tabs.

And yes get it looked at very soon they can cause abscesses and make you bloody sick!

I find the dentist once every 6 months, and brushing teeth twice daily, once with floss and mouthwash works much better.

I go to the dentist twice a year, brush three times a day and I still managed to shear a tooth off [on christmas day morning] and had to have a root canal being in loads of pain! so it isn't necessarily anything to do with how often you go to the dentist or oral hygeine. There is such a thing as over cleaning as well, especially if you clean to soon after eating!

At the end of the day Stavs has toothache now, how will "dentist once every 6 months, and brushing teeth twice daily, once with floss and mouthwash works much better" help his toothache now?

Climb off your fucking pedestal

wtf indeed, how does your method help to "TREAT" toothache? It can "HELP" to "PREVENT" it but it does not "TREAT" it! Stavs has toothache now, he can't "PREVENT" it as it's already there!
