106 nearly has this so for me its better than the 206. i like 106s and i reckon they out perform the 206 in more than straightlines and shit but in how fun they are (im guessing not driven either)
Ive had a 205 GTi as well, love my french hot hatches, quicker no, more fun definately

1.9 must be about the same as a 106,
205 is easily the most fun. my 1.6 is my transition car til i can afford a 1.9 got a few plans = good suspension and a 1.6 gearbox ment to reet nippy then

Ive drove a 138 bhp, my mate works at peugeot so comes home with them sometimes, and it was really sluggish in the way it drove too, and i had a play with that one and it was quite easy to just stay with even if he got the power done well before me.
And if your refering to me, i dont race everything on the road, infact i dont bother with much at all, however if something comes up behind me etc that looks like it could be a good match ill give it ago

Na I wasnt having a go at anyone just stating that all people seem to do is argue about which is faster, you get some good examples of all these cars, look at VTS some are quicker than others, like my phase 2 was quicker than my friends phase 2, on the road there is nothing between these cars mentioned (106 Gti/ VTS/ 206 Gti/ 306 Gti-6/Rallye)

Yep 1.9 is probably there or there abouts, although I had a 1992 1.6 (115 bhp) and it couldnt keep with a friends VTS past 60, so short geared so ran out of steam quickly, wish I had never sold the car was immaculate, graphite grey, 1.9 wheels, power steering, leccy windows and the interior was immaculate.

Looks very tidy the pics in your garage, loving the black wheels. I was very close to doing an Mi 16 conversion as I had found a donor car nice and cheap, feel gutted every time I see a 205 GTi on the road, you have to drive one to realise how much character they have and why they set the standard for hot hatches.

tis very true.. drivers side rear arch and and back end of the sill is bubbling. was gonna get it sorted but costs too much so i am probably just gonna leave it.
its got leather interior so might keep that when i sell it. want to get a proper mint 1.9 maybe dimma

i fail to see how they aren't good looking tbh, but i am biased, and everyones opinions are different
yours is just missing the wider arches other wise its
the arches are sat in my garage waiting for the summer and other mods like smoothing etc, doing 200miles a week now so its pointless putting them on to get battered by stonechips etc

a 1.9 gti 205 is not faster than a 206 180, wouldnt be faster round a track either
and a 206 gti 138 would most likely be faster round a track than the 1.6

I wasn't overally impressed with the Gti 180 when i test drove it as it really didn't seem as quick as i'd expect it. I didn't realise they did a 138bhp model. But on topic, Doesn't surprise me that the 106 won due to the weight. Is the 106 gti 125bhp or 120bhp?

I agree, but i like the Grand Tourisme much better than either of the GTI's, it looks stunning, and it's more unique etc..

If it was a race to the Peugeot parts dept for a new axle then id say it was a dead heat.

My 106 gti had 100k miles on it, was 9 yrs old and over the year I had it I NEVER replaced a single faulty part on it.
ON TOPIC - I played with a few 206 gtis in the wifes old GTI and mine and never been beaten by them
As for the 180 version I dont think standard for standard the 106 would have much luck

You dont have to be a master tech to put people off lol.
I worked at a highly reputable scrappy (www.daautoparts.co.uk) and EVERY day we got asked for the same peugeot bits.
Id safely NEVER own one.
