Contemplating buying one this weekend, whats peoples views on them? Heard they are quite nippy but to watch out for the head gaskets going. The lad says he had a new one fitted 200miles ago.................

They're fucking expensive to insure, which is a shame because they're really cheap now.

My dad had the 1.4, sounded nice, seemed quite quick.

Interior quality was awful, fell to bits.

My dad had a 1.4 too for 6months. The inside door handle just kept falling off! Very poorly put together inside. It was only 2 years old with 17000 on the clock and everything just felt loose and like it was hanging on for dear life

To be quite honest, its my car your talking about (i presume!) inside its not bad at all.. its not as 'tight' as some other cars ive owned but nothing has ever fell off as such

there are a few rattles around but theres always been alot more in any lowered car ive had before and in my opinion the zr handles very well for standard suspension and the price you would pay for one

i know ill seem biased but i dont think its right that these cars are knocked bcus of the association with rover and without being seen or driven first hand

Yeah, they are nice cars, the newer ones dont go through head gaskets either, so I heard.

I have just given my opinion of what bugged my dad and me when we had one. Sayin that about the interior, the seats are some of the most comfertable i've sat in were leather too. We only had the 1.4 but it was quite nippy WAY faster than the 1.2 8v corsa I had back then.

true and i appreciate your points guys just making my own..

mine has the triple layer landrover developed gasket on it now too..

to be quite honest there arent many cars you can get for the price with leather seats etc.. also the VVC means i do about 300 miles to 40 quid on mixed driving and about 280 urban which is alot more than i ever saw from my 1.8 astra

As much as I hate to admit this a friend of mine bought one of these from an auction with change from 2k and when he took me out in it, it felt reasonably quick and actually went round corners.

I havent got a clue about the reliability but for the money they are not as bad as peolple make out and its taking a lot for me to say this

Its the reputation asociated with owning one which puts me off them full stop.
