since its started getting colder in the mornings iv noticed well.... heard my engine has quite a loud rattle when its cold that goes once its warmed up but if also noticed my exhaust sounds a bit blowy could it be some thing in my exhaust that rattles??
oh and when im going down hill and i take my foot off the accelerator and leave it to its own accord the engine breaking feels really weird like it'll slow down a bit then speed up then slow down then speed up etc.
(its going in the garage in jan for a service & mot etc) but does it sound like it needs something sorting sooner?

cold tap in the morning sounds like your tappets as there isnt oil in them til the oil heats up.
maybe there is a problem with the cat as well with regards to the car feeling weird while engine braking, could be deposits getting stuck in the cat. (not 100%)
if you feel something isnt right book into a garage for a general check over
sorry i cant help more

cheers. it'll go in in jan, but tbh it could be the cat or the center section on the exhaust as my gf lives down a road where they have those stupid bumps that are split into 3 and it scrapes as i go over them.

Could be tappets yes. The engine braking may be air flow meter? Is the engine management light on?

Hmmm,id agre that it could be the tappets, have you checked the oil when the engine is cold?Top it up if needs be.The exhaust could possibly be down to the "grounding" on the speed bumps and possibly have loosened the joins on it cause the "blow". Id get it down an exhaust place and get it checked as after all its free if you dont want them to do it and it gives you a good idea of the prob.then get the car serviced and this should see you alright mate.Sorry i cant be more help but its a bit difficult to diagnose specific things over the tinterweb without hearing or seeing the probs! Good luck too!
