Ok, so if Shoguns are so amazing, why aren't they used for the Camel Trophy? Why do they not get used by the forces? Why do Mountain Rescue use Defenders? Does the Shogun come with an optional snorkel and sand ladders?

It's not broke. I've seen them with fancy axles and suspension but it's like owt else it costs serious money. Fit a good set of tyres to a shogun and you can have just as much fun

i drove them back to back and prefered the shogun.

Mitsi have won the Dakar rally 6 or 7 times off the belt no one else gets near them.
You can have a snorkel if you want, ladders on the rear door are standard on a pajero

but you've merited it on things like electrics and comfort, plus you arent an expert, neither am i, but i assume people like the mountain rescue are, and its their preferred model

Defenders are most likely chosen because they live forever and are easy to fix due to their simplicity, where as shoguns are more refined, more comfortable, have more toys, so they have more to go wrong. Not that they do of course
