Ive owned my car since July and not once cleaned it, hell is it dirty. Just wondering if there will be any consequences come the time I ever decide to clean it if I do, someone once told me bird crap will damage the paintwork after time, is this true?

Another consequence is that it will be a right fucker to clean when you eventually decide to do it. And you'll probably end up scratching it as the dirt and grime will be that stubborn.

Surely 4-5 months worth of dirt will act as a protective barrier to the salt

Yeah, you'll get a bollocking from the detailing police for not looking after it.
I didn't clean my Corsa C for a good 9 months, including the winter. It was fine when I cleaned it before selling.
Same with the yellow B, that got cleaned about 3 times in 4 years, at one point, the dirt was thick enough to write in, and you couldn't see the number plates, that came up fine too.

I dont understand how people can drive round in a dirty car. You wouldn't let your house get in a shitty mess so why let your car!

Yes the inside of my car bothers me more as thats the bit you see the most.
I dont like the outside being dirty for too long. It just looks scruffy. Like if you were to let your garden overgrow. I just like to take care of things I guess.

I don't really get time to clean mine much tbh. Left the house at 7.30am and just got in now. Got a really bad head ache and going to bed once i've had a shower. I've washed my car once in 3,000 miles. It will get get a really good clean over Christmas when i've some time off.

Should be ok, the only thing tha will really damage a car finish is bird shit. Salt will damage bare metal but as car paint is made from plastic salt doesn't effect it.

My cars not been out the garage for at least a week - nice coating of wax on it too. I hardly clean my van though (04 plate) and the paint has faded etc
