The car was well over on the emissions. It had a new CAT fitted which looks a bit smaller than the standard one. Would this affect the emmissions?

I haven't started the car for a couple of weeks and just took it straight up there

Might reinsure and do a few miles on the motorway before a retest. See what happens

Coolant Temp Sensor change worked on my 1.6.

Then give it a good ragging before the test and make sure they get straight on it.

cat shouldnt affect it.being stood for a while won't help.sometimes when cars used to fail the emission at our old place we would take them for a thrash round the block re-test them and they would pass.

It failed quite badly because it was over double what the limits are

I'll try swapping a couple of things and see what happens!!

i remember getting mine through the emisions i ragged it on the motorway just before got it nice and hot and it still didnt pass.

anyway the m.o.t tester said sit ther for about 15mins at about 3.5k and it went stright through after that.

Drove it this morning, and the temp gauge didn't get to 90c.

Swung it into Vaux and picked up a new CTS and Spade connector for the dash. Will top up the coolant and oil and rag it up the motorway for a good few junctions before a retest tomorrow.

on my old 1.4 sport mine was over double on the emissions and had to put the standerd cat-back back on
