Secondary air pump, you don't need it, but it won't make any difference removing it, so you might as well leave it there.

i want to get rid of it to make more room in my engine bay, i think it looks really untidy, im putting an x16xe in my car next week instead of the x14xe and if i dont need it would rather just chuck it away lol
what is its purpose?

If you do chuck it away, yo still end up with that silver round thing on the exhaust manifold, so it actually looks better with it in there. Look in my garage and you'll see what I mean.
I can't remember what it does TBH

No, if you do that, you end up with a hole in the exhaust manifold.
