As said its a franchise, personally i can see some peoples points of view, i had one done by powerflow in tamworth and would never go again cause i had to go back three times, however my last 4 car's i have had done by a guy in stafford who's been doing it nine years, and he is perfect.

Mine has been brilliant mate. You'll get plenty of different opinions on the company but I think it depends on the quality of the dealer that makes the exhaust. My dealer has been brilliant at making my exhaust from scratch even working with making a system to suit how low my car is. I haven't ever heard it bang, rattle or squeak and it was worth every penny.

There are a number of members on here that are very happy with their powerflow exhaust systems, me included - However there are some people that aren't.

Anyone that comes straight in here and says Powerflow are crap clearly doesnt really know what they're on about.

Ask them what grade stainless steel they use, it varies between franchises and this often has a result on its lifespan, how much it rusts .etc

When you know that you can look up whether or not it's a good choice. I believe they have:

430 - http://www.azom.com/details.asp?ArticleID=996

409 - http://www.azom.com/Details.asp?ArticleID=969

304 - http://www.azom.com/Details.asp?ArticleID=965

Generally powerflow use the 409 as it's cheaper, the 304 is a better option. Also I think they mig weld (even though they shouldn't) instead of tig which is a worse finish.

Now they do offer a lifetime guarentee iirc so it's not too much of a problem if you're happy to go back should a problem arise.

when i worked at powerflow in 2002 409 grade stainless was used which does rust quite badly, they use this cos its cheaper and is less brittle than 304.

general concensus now it that 304 is used throughout, although that maybe just the pipework.

they make a fortune on the systems!...a 3 metre length of 63mm was £18 and boxes were £15 each.

an average system in 2002 cost £58!!!

Prices on stainless steel have recently went up and you will find that its no where near that now, you are also paying for someones skills. Doesnt cost a garage anything to do some jobs but its the "labour" you pay for.

thats why is said in 2002 the cost was £58,not the labour,i wasn't saying for 1 minute that you would get an exhaust for £58 fitted but when i fitted an exhaust to my cars that was how much the materials would cost, back then 409 was only used which may reflect the price,i've no doubt that prices would have gone up for using more expensive materials.

your right Xs. I work for d.c.m.s(ex topgearNW) we have nothing but an excellent reputation for our exhaust and service, ask any of the nw people. As is said every single time a powerflow exhaust thread is made, each garage that do powerflow exhausts is a seperate franchise altogether. It all depends on which one you go to what service and quality of workmanship you receive. We use nothing but grade 304 stainless pipe and stainless mig wire.

How much does it cost to have a full system done in 304 grade including manifold, as my standard system has blown apart from cat and the performance backbox.
