its not hard to grasp is it

there is a car called an Astra VXR, you can choose to have a VXR pack on lesser models, it doesnt take a genius to assume that the VXR pack would include a lot of styling features from the VXR

Only to you, you seem to have a major issue with Vauxhall, I'm sure no-one has bought a 'VXR styling' front splitter and expected a Corsa VXR front bumper/grille/lights.

It's a brand name, the same as 'S-line' is with Audi, you don't expect an S3 when you buy an A3 S line FFS.

i would if it were called an "S3 Styling Pack

Exactly. VXR Styling pack makes it sound like you are getting a VXR-a-like

Isn't the word 'style' or 'styling' quite ambiguous though. To me, Styling Pack means adopting the style of the VXR. It's like having a Sports Pack, doesn't render the car a sports car.

I can see where you are coming from Steve, but I think your VAG tinted lenses mean you pick apart things, when they do make sense. If they didn't have the word Styling, I'm sure it'd be a whole different ball game.

Mike - you've made a good choice. I read in Total Vauxhall this month that someone managed 80-odd-mpg in a 1.3 CDTi. That was nearly 800 miles to one tank

i think what steve is trying to point out is that people could be led to belive that u get it looking like a vxr? and the price they probly charge you'd think that as well.lol. i can see both sides of this and this topic could just keep goin in circles.

i know what people are saying, but vauxhall imo made the mistake, on purpose or not to make it sound like you were getting something remotely astra vxr'esque

thats all i was saying, is the name of it was misleading, all of a sudden im accused of hating vauxhalls

what im trying to say is, what do you think makes the astra vxr the vxr?

surely its the engine, the chassis somewhat, and the styling?

since the lower spec models with the vxr styling pack, are never going to have the engine and chassis of the vxr it would be natural to draw a link to it at least looking like one

I can understand what steve is saying but really its rediculous.

IMO thats nothing differnet to the others that been mentioned such as clio and 106 quicksilvers.

This is so common place in todays marketing. Look at the new mini clubman, its not even a clubman ffs, its a mini traveler but BMW didnt buy the name. there our countless other examples so wy does this bother you so much.

thats nothing like what im trying to say

what im trying to say is vauxhall have called an optional extra for a lower spec car the same name as the hot car, people are naturally going to assume it will look somewhat like a VXR if your adding a VXR styling pack dont you think?

im not bothered about it at all, i simply pointed it out, others started questioning it, using pretty weak arguments as to why i was talking rubbish

i know what steve is saying. if i saw VXR styling pack, id expect to have a VXR bumper, side skirts, spoiler, center exit triangle exhaust, bigger wheels, blue painted brakes, vxr wing mirrors, etc.

if the VXR styling pack didnt include all of the above to make it look like a VXR then it should be called "sports pack" or something similar.
