Looking for something to potter about in at weekends. Looking at spending no more than £1000.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking cheap saxo VTS as I have heard they handle excellent

personally i would go for something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Robin-Hood-Ford-based-kit-car_W0QQitemZ320166505712QQihZ011QQcategoryZ29750QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

it would need alot of work but would be much more fun than anything else in the price range imo

106 XSi.

I wouldn't buy a 205 GTi for under a grand and expect a straight one these days.

106 xsi all day long!

Cheap as chips
great power to weight ratio
parts easily found
engine is bulletproof
less likely to be rusty (like 205)

The other option is the clio 16v but for sub grand money its going to be a dog with a dodgy gearbox
