im my professional opinion
i would never fit a cycle rack to a corsa with a spoiler
never ever
only safe way i feel is a thule roof bar system and roof bar monted cycle carrier

right the top two straps
hook in the leading edge of the boot, which is steel
then they go over the spoiler, which is
a, plastic
b, about the same height and the strap hook in the steel
the plastic spoiler is not load bearing, so any weight, heavy pothole etc will either dislodge the cycle carrier top straps, and-or kill the spoiler
if there is no spoiler then that's better, its still a really shallow angle for the carrier and i wouldn't reccomend it.

Dad insisted i used a blanket to protect the car -
Adam - whether you recommend it or not i know it works without trouble. all four straps on that carrier are adjustable so you can have as much or as little load on the spoiler as you wish. i agree the spoiler is not load bearing, it is however securly fitted and bolted on. with a light weight on it (lets face it bikes arent heavy) its no more loading than the wind it deflects

we have a thule one which is espically designed for cars with spoilers as all our cars have spoilers and it works as it doesnt have the straps which come over the spoiler
