Ordered a laptop on Thursday, was meant to be delivered yesterday, i checked the "track the order" thing yesterday morning, and it said it had been loaded into a van for delivery.. it got to about 5: 00pm, and it hadnt arrived, so i phoned city link, they said it would be with me by 5:30pm.. it got to 6: 00pm and it still hadnt arrived, so i phoned them back.. aparently the delivery driver that was supposed to be delivering it had been fired halfway through his shift because of a "incident", so it wouldnt be delivered till monday.. as they refuse to deliver it on Saturdays, unless you have paid for it especially. So, i said i would pick it up from the depo this morning, and the woman on the phone said it would be fine.. i went to collect it from the depo, and they basically couldnt find it.. so, essentially they have lost it, and i have to go back on monday and hope they have tracked it down.. the fuckers..
anyone else ever had a problem with City Link?

Yup.
I went away on holiday for two weeks. They decided to leave a £500 package underneath my bin, on the first day of my holiday. Fucking idiots.

won't deliveries been insured so if they did lose it, then you won't miss out?

They're not very professional when you go to collect either.

Driver sacked mid-shift because of a "incident", your expensive laptop going missing...
I wonder if he was caught putting the laptop in his car, and was sacked - explains it all tbh.
Just call me Columbo, thanks.

Sh!tty link suck big time. If I know a company uses them I will find a different company to order from. I will no longer from scan.co.uk as a result (and because scan suck too).
My story:
Years ago ordered a hard drive from Scan. They failed to deliver to my work address and left a note (there was someone in of course). When I phoned to arrange collection they had either lost it or it had been stolen by their very honest staff. Claim was sent back to Scan and a new one sent out. When they delivered it they wanted the old one back (they sent an exchange harddrive). So once again I was without a hard drive and it got sent back to Scan.
More phone calls later and Scan sent out another. Amazingly this one made it (3 months later), albeit minus the SATA cables. More phone calls to Scan and they said they would send the cable. They managed to make up a completely new address from parts of my home and work address, and the cable never made it. Scan gave up trying to get my order to me, and admitted they were incapable of providing a decent service. I never received the cables. Scan will never get my custom again (this wasn't the only order they c0cked up), and neither will any company that I know uses $hitty Link for delivery.

I deleiver parcels and it all depends on what service you have ordered things on and some of them are just a door drop service, no signature needed or anything.

i can only say good things about scan. they ran out of an item they said was in stock so rung me and asked if i wanted the next model up for the same price.

we've had items go missing in the post with couriers, as it happens it was laptops. told the supplier that the courier had lost them and they sent replacements and took the missing items up with the courier, in this case TNT.
the only other trouble we had with city link is we missed delivery on an item twice so fair enough we rang up and said we'd go and pick it up as their policy states they wouldn't attempt delivery again etc. we went to pick it up and they couldn't find it, as we were there somebody from the office rang and said it had just been delivered

city link are rubbish, I left a message for them to leave some parcels in my bin cupboard and they just put their standard card through the door with the bit about them not leaving parcels without a signature underlined.
I have to go and pick them up tommorow and hope the parcels are still at the depot.
