Any of you people been to a homeopath before?
What experiences do you have?
I don't really believe in that type of thing, but i'm having allergic reactions to something at the moment (no idea what) and my mum insists that homeopathy is the way to go. She's used one previously when she's had food allergies, and swears it's found exactly what the problem has been each time.
I've just read a little about it on Wikipedia, and have to say it looks like utter bollocks: it's supposed to find imbalances in your 'vital force' and treat it by dissolving diseases in water and shaking the bottle WTF?
But, it's a fairly common alternative to medicine, so people must try it, and keep going back for more?
I mentioned my problem to my GP last time i was there, and she said she could refer me to an allergist if it started to bother me, but that could take weeks to get an appointment, and well, the NHS is shit really isn't it.
What to do?

ive been!
Im undecided about it, i had to go when i was younger the lady was a complete nonce, had to sit there and discuss everything with her and they try and sort out a medicine for you.
In laymans terms they give you a small does of the diesease/allergy you have and thats supposed to cure it
DOnt ask me how but it seemed to do my mouth ulcers good.

thats how vaccinations work jambo, the body learns how to fight the virus when its in a small "dead" dose, so when a real invasion of the virus comes along it can fight it and fuck it off.

some of it is a placebo too.
All the tablets are the same and you have to take them like 4times a day and at least 30mins before or after eating.
Pain in the ass.

Yeah but you dont do it when you're suffering for it as your immune system would already be working over time against the bloody thing anyway

I don't believe in it, think it's placebo but i'm sure that's more than good enough for the ignorant.
The diluted matter is so small as to be negligible and as such it's not really a science. The Homeopath's believe that the diluted matter has 'transferred' it's qualities to the dilutant, i personally don't.
