So around a month ago I bought a new car...
Was quite happy with it paying £3500

2 weeks ago, some @@@@@'s decided it would be a good idea to rob my front and rear bumpers by ripping them off - also ripping my spoiler off and attempting to get into my boot via crowbar!
I couldnt believe it - i was only away from the car for an hour.

I had a few quotes to get it back to 'on the road' standard and the cheapest was £800 + parts (£350) I couldnt afford that just after buying a new car so i had to go through my insurance (£400 excess - losing 3 years NCB, but courtesy car)
this morning they have rung me saying it is beyond economical repair and gave me a valuation of £3600 minus the excess!! what the hell!??!
if i want to buy it back i have to pay them £900 and i would recieve £2300 after the excess has been taken out!!

has anyone been in this situation before?
my head is up my arse, i dont know what to do!!

I want to kill someone...then cry

sorry for the monday morning essay =(

Well taking away the Excess etc, I think he means he is getting £2300 back for it, having paid £1200 more only a month ago, and will also lose his NCB.

Not really
Ive lost 3 years no claims + a lot of hassle and stress

I just dont know what to do.

Im thinking of buying it back and getting it repaired from the guys who said £800 + parts...

Then ive gotta live with the cat-d tag and wait without a courtesy car etc as they are taking it away from me tomorrow

My advise would not have been to go thro' the insurance, but never mind its done now.

I really had no other choice m8

I just dont understand how they can write it off
They do that when the cost to repair exceeds the value of the car right?
I dont know how they can justify this on my car

update

kicked off with the garage who gave the insurance company the quote to fix it

they have added a sh!t load of work that didnt need to be done IMO and also put down £1200 for parts when i sourced them and linked them for £300

i just dont think they can be arsed sorting it for me because of the wait for delivery of the bumpers (poland-2weeks)
