smokey ones, valve stem oil seals go and they burn oil like no tommorrow. I had one in my old cav, was a very high millage car with nearing 200,000 on the clock but still ran fine apart from the smoking

They'll run forever! My Calibra has 175,000miles on the clock and has been smoking like a chimley for the last 60,000!!! But starts first time everytime and runs fine

easier to maintain i'd say less problems, just keep it topped with oil and a regular service an it will go to the moon and back

Good engines. Get the 130bhp one.
If it blows up (Rare), down the scrappy, £50 for a whole new engine, job done.....
Parts are dirt cheap, and I think theres a few reliable turbo conversions.
Power wise, not known anyone to really push them above 160-170bhp, with carbs, cam, pulley etc etc...
Good engine, loads of low down rev umph. Just not as overall quick as a redtop, but theres not much in it as people think.

the one im buying is the 130 bhp one and tbh that'l be enough as ive got my bike for goin fast. i just want a relatively quick no hassle motor (is there such a thing)
do these have trouble with hub, cv boots, cv joints etc like the 16v ?
my old XE was a nightmare when it needed a new hub.
also what is the engine code for this engine for when im odering parts.

that will always be a problem with a conversion as the corsa not built to take the weight power or torque so will always happen

Don't quote me, i THINK is 20SEH, but that may be the 115bhp unit...
Unsure on hubs etc. TBH, i've never actually heard of an 8v popping them.... Theres been plenty of 8v conversions done though.
Its like comparing a 1.4 8v SRi and the 1.4 16v unit. 8v has loads more low available torque, but suffers more with power at top revs. 16v is the exact opposite, struggles with low down torque, but pulls hard at top revs.
Same applies with the 2.0, but with more power and torque. Just doesn't look as tidy in the engine bay
Good conversion, go for it.

C20NE - 115BHP
C20SEH - 130BHP (consider the 'H' in the engine to code to represent 'High Output')

The C20SEH has no more torque than the XE at any point in the rev range.
20XE Corsa vs 20SEH Corsa the XE has more power and torque from the word go!

I had a c20seh in a nova, fuck me it was quick! Still handled like fuck aswell. Now got one in my cavy runaround, 190,000 miles, yes 190! And its still going like fuck, apart from a wee oil leak i cant complain.

I had the 8v lump in my old red corsa, went well and bits are cheap for them, i.e i bought a full running cav for £150 and drove it home I had a problem with the ecu but the engine itself was solid! Like everyone is saying, run to the moon and back.

always fancied one as the engines are cheap and supposedly bullet proof and go well also
