Have a look on Dave Baker's Puma racing website for detailed info on lightened flywheels etc.

"The other few rotating items, gearbox internals, camshafts etc are generally of small diameter and not worth lightening because of their consequent low inertia. One thing I can promise you is that the current fad for anodised aluminium cam pulleys which then usually get hidden behind a cover anyway won't make a scrap of difference to your engine because of the few grams weight they save. They may well wear out and cost you your entire engine if the teeth strip off the belt though. Aluminium is not really the material for gears and sprockets but when did fashion and common sense ever go together? "

Its an underdrive pulley, iirc it doesnt load the alternator as much when accelerating, so they say it has a small bhp increase

Dont quote me on that though

arent the alloy ones found on camshafts adjustable to retard timing?

I cant see it adding bhp to the engine

Maybe using the bhp thats already there bit better but its only a crank pully.

Thats crazy to claim any bhp
They know that bhp is all people think about when tuning up there car so think ill just lie to sell the item.

the less weight something has to turn the faster it can turn it, the faster an engine can turn the quicker it can rev. the quicker it can rev the quicker you can go, in theory.

It doesnt add any bhp to the engine!

However being an underdrive pulley in theory less power will be used driving ancillaries so you should theoretically see a bhp increase at the wheels.

As for the weight aspect it wont affect bhp but will allow the engine to rev up quicker, and slow down faster, theoretically but as said the difference will be very minimal!
