it's hard to explain what i mean,

if it is currently taxed, obviously what i said is true anyway, as there will still be tax on it

but if he goes in to tax it on a friday, and the car is sorn, once he gets his tax disk, he can effectively drive it straight away

Tax begins the first of the month, regardless when you buy it.

If you bought it now, it would become valid from the 1st of October until the 6 or 12 month period is up (end of March/September respectively)

You can tax a car upto 15 days prior to the end of the month to begin the following month, but if you tax it to be valid now, the tax will effect only be valid for 5 months, plus whatever is the remainder of this month.

I'll be taxing the Omega tomorrow to be valid now as I need it to drive to uni, so it means I'm paying 6 months duty for 5 months and 1 week...

Sucks
