Mk2's have a different heads on them and no EGR, so I hear...

From past experiance mk1's are slower, mk2's are quicker quite abit faster.

mk1's had the head with no egr between 1999 and 2000, it was after 2000 they introduced the heads with the egr

no i said the mk2 vtr's came with 100bhp people are getting confused in all this lol

Steve seems to be the only one giving out the right info on this thread, except that the Mk2 VTR's were 98bhp... This was done so that the 106 Rallye (the same 1.6 8v engine) was still 2 bhp more powerful at 100bhp. Peugeot also list the the 106 GTi as having 122 bhp.

The mk1's were lighter by a small amount, not enough to make a difference though.

There's a myth about the x reg' VTS's having 130bhp, supposedly they were intended to have the EGR valve (most you can see the slot out of the exhaust manifold heat shield were it was intended to fit), but only got the mapping to compensate for the EGR... As I said, it's a myth, never properly disproven though...

The whole oil cooler thing... All VTS's have an oil cooler of sorts. It's actually an oil/water heat exchanger.
