and anyone else who may have experience in this
Im thinking of getting some Pioneer CDJ-1000 Mk3's just wondered what the general thinking of these are, have read good reviews online but tis always good to get real peoples opinions
also anyone know of any decent shops in the SE that sells them, have already looked at sapphires sound and light (decks.co.uk) jsut wondered if anyone has used any others?

 i so badly want a set of these
they look pretty amazing and everyone i know who has used them swear by them. The only thing that scares me is the pricetag  I was thinking about getting some MK2s and seeing how i get on with those, but il only regret not getting the MK3s.
Turnkey on charing x road always has the latest equipment to try out, and theres some place in Sevenoaks i got my Vestax from years ago.
With legal downloads at £1.50 now, kiss goodbye to Vinyl, most house DJs use CD only these days.

I had a pair of MK2's which i think are soooooooo much better then the MK3's. If you can get your mits on MK2's then defo get them. might be a problem now tho as they don't produce the MK2's anymore.
My mate has the MK3's there ok, but they don't feel as good as the 1000MK2's. Wont matter tho if you've never used the MK2's. Dave if your worried about the price tag for the 1000's check out the 800's, there the little brother to the 1000's

Never used CDJ's myself. But i know the features like looping etc on them are great.
I use Vinyl emulation with mp3's
I use software called PCDj Scratch to control an Mp3 bought online like a normal record on my decks

Craig - I did look at the 800s but they look soooo plasticy and like i said, il only regret not getting the 1000's. THere are sets of 2nd hand Mk2s around now because lots of people have upgraded to the MK3s..........
Aj - Only problem with that is that its not portable, ie you couldnt install that in a club if u had to play out.

There are a few clubs around here which are kitted out for a Dj just to turn up with a laptop. These are called "Scratch Clubs" meaning they are kitted out for Final Scratch.
But when i say "few"....i mean like 2.

I use serato scratch live in clubs and at partys, just a matter of switching the cables round which takes 2 mins.Serato live is very portable, my bag weighs less than my mates cd bag and i have about 80% more tune to choose from  if the venue has wireless i can download requests and play them straight away on vinyl I can also use it with cdjs, you get time incoded vinyl and cds

wont touch cdj's. been mixing for 7 years i i love mixing with vinyl, all the people that say vinyl is dead its bullshoot. mixing with vinyl is the best way to mix, you get the propper feeling of pulling off a mix.

I must admit i prefer Vinyl as well but just because I'm mainly into Turntablism, Breakbeat, Hip Hop and like the scatching element albeit I'm shit at it, but I am improving

I have been a Vinyl DJ for about 8 years on and off, and i do agree that vinyl is good and you can do a lot with beats if your any good at turntablism, but playing on my mates cdj's its surprisingly similar. For instance the SLDZ1200 has a platter that you can scratch and play around with that runs just like a vinyl (some say the sound it produces isnt bang on but passable) but for what i wanna do im really starting to think the CDJ-1000 is the way forward. now just have to raise the 2.5k to get the setup i think i want.

I've seen people trying to scratch with CD Decks and it just didn't sound the same, although I had heard the Q-Bert from the Invisibl Skratch Piklz was working on a set for Vestax

You still need turntables and mixer with PC/Laptop to boot, cant really see the point other than it's easier to carry than a vinyl collection

HTFR is the WORST place to go imo. DJstore has better prices on most items, has better customer service and will price match with anybody, esp htfr as they hate them

course you need turntables and mixer
And carrying 20,000 records in a laptop weighing less than 50 vinyls is a major 'point' to be had
Theres the cost aswell
