My girlfriend is looking to buy a mk 2 punto. Are there any problems with these cars? Or any bad points? Looking at around a 51 reg

what sort of mk2 fiat? if hgt they can have varieator < (crap with spelling) problems. normal 1.2 16v no problems, but check on how engine runs, everything works etc etc. they are not as bad as people make out tbh. check puntomk2 forum! they can tell you more etc!

Ive had problems with gearboxes turning themselves inside-out before.

Drive it sensible and they should be fine

other than depreciation, poor reliability and generally being badly made?

I had the pleasure of driving the girfriends one this morning, Has not had anything go wrong with it within the last 20k miles and it gets the shit ripped out of it (especially this morning!)

clutch is on its way out though which is the only problem, that and it felt like i was going to roll it when i tried to take a corner like in my corsa

Pretty good cars though imo
