I'm buying a car without an MOT about 60 miles from where I live. I know if you're booked into an MOT test you can drive the car. Would I be able to drive it 60miles to a local garage I know for the test, or are you meant to take it to a garage very near to where you pick up? Also it doesn't have any tax, but obviously you can't get tax til you've got an mot, so is this ok? Thanks,

I think it would need to be trailored to be completely legal TBH

I was always under the impression that if you were driving it without an MOT then you can only really be taking it a short distance to the MOT station

The rules have changed i think. I think you used to be able to drive the car for a certain amount of time after it was due, but now you cant drive your car at all unless just to the MOT centre. Especially with no tax

Make sure the car doesnt look a total wreck - nice and clean etc

Dont wear a baseball cap, where sensible clothes

Drive like you were taught and you should be ok!

My 2 cents, but dont blame me if ote goes wrong, it was just an idea!
