one from your freind Ry_B

1.6 sport STANDARD Vs MG ZR 1.4

Straight: the 1.6 should win

but cornering? - ZR is lower due to it being a sporty rover model, but would it out handle and out brake a 1.6 sport?

I think it may be able to but is very unsure...

MG ZR's are actually decentish handling cars, damn site better than a standard 1.6 Corsa.

ive just said it could be due to the idea of the 1.6 really wasn't aimed to be sporty despite the name. just carrying on from the 1.4 with leccys and ABS etc...

the ZR has big wheels low proile tyres and also lowered. following the idea from the modified scence

The GSi, IMO, is the only sporty corsa

dought that alot

105bhp vs 65bhp

i lost to a tuned one, with similar power to mine, they can rev to 7000rpm, which makes a big difference

i had the 1.8 160 version and it was quite quick, not as tourqey as the xe but the handling on the mg was quite good. stiff and hardly any role.

i dont remember where i heard this, but isnt when the mg rover say "zr 105" 105 is bhp at the fly, not the wheels. so the mg160 is actually slower than it states?

all power figures you'll get from manufacturers will be at the fly (eg the 104/106bhp whatever the 1.6 sport is stated to be, is at the fly)

my friend has a 105+, handles better than my lowered 1.6 sport.... has similar torque low down, but fuck all guts up in the rev range, gets to about 5krpm and dies a horrible death, where as the corsa would pulls all the way to the limit

another friend has a rover 200 (with the 105 engine me thinks), that handles nice as well, can throw it at corners as much as you want and they just hold, gotta drive the corsa more refined i feel otherwise they will punish you more (although they are still quite forgiving i find)

My corsa handles like shite, when i drove a zr i was suprised at the handling, but it didn't "float my boat" as a car in general.

There is no good handling aspect of a 1.6 sport either by the way. Mine is like a bowl of jelly sometimes

The now Ex has one of these ZR 105+. When i drove it it felt so slow. I tried to give it death to get it moving but not much happened. At the time i just had my Astra Derv power.

So in comparrison now that i have driven a standard sport i can tell you that it Does go quicker and it Does Not handle as well as the ZR (oh my corsa had eibach springs and i still think that the ZR handled better). But my Astra Boooost out handles it and is quicker.
