Mate put nail polish remover on his and it took the shine off the paint, might only be matalic colours though.
Id go for the heat gun and sponge method

Depending on how thick it is, it might take a bit of work. Using a heat gun/hairdryer to get most it off then finish with nailvarnish remover whould be your best bet.
